The head of security committee in the Kano Local Organizing sub seat of the FIFA U-17 World cup Nigeria 2009, has been crowned the Best divisional police officer by the Kano state Command of the Nigeria Police Force.
Shaibu Bello who headed the sub seat security committee was honored by the state police command, emerging as the selected best among over seventy one of his peer at that level in the force to be bestowed the honor as the best.
The super football cop as he is been popularly referred to by football stakeholders in the state, is described a as the man behind the declaration of Kano as the best in terms of security at the last FIFA U 17 world held in Nigeria by the football world governing body(FIFA).
The Niger state born police officer, acknowledged for restoring sanity to Sani Abacha stadium a stadium reknowned for its high record in soccer hooliganism during league matches whenever the darling home team Kano Pillars is pitched against foes in the Nigeria league competition.
A source that craved for anonymity, when commenting on the declaration of the Kano sub seat as the best in terms of security organization at the cadet world cup said” You cant dispute the recognition of kano as the best in the area of security by FIFA, Shaibu was everywhere, anytime his services or intervention were needed he is always there and made sure his men were there to carryout their duties throughout the world cup in Kano on 24 hours basis, he deserves the award”.
Commenting on the applaud on the state of security while the cadet world cup matches lasted in Kano, Shaibu said,” That Kano was named the best in terms of security at the FIFA 2009 U-17 World cup was a feat achieved out of hard work, dedication and commitment on my part other officers working with me and the hierarchy of the force, we worked as team and were dedicated to our duties”.
On how he eliminated the menace of soccer hooliganism that characterize league games involving the state team Kano Pillars couple with his duty as a divisional police officer, he said”My emergence as the Chief security officer to Kano Pillars contributed immensely to my experience, where I had to control a large number of crowd comprising people of diverse backgrounds and being able to sanitize the security situation during matches involving the club exposed me a lot and today that I command a division that houses over 50 banks including the Apex bank CBN, the post office, MTN GLO Zain and NITEL offices, alongside the home of the state commissioner of police and other VIPS successfully without a single case of armed robbery recorded in the division I suspect led to my been crowned the best Divisional Police Officer is a pride but mind you it is a bigger challenge”
